The University of Guadalajara is an institution that is heir to an educational tradition that dates back to 1792. It is developed from a network model that is made up of thematic university centers located in the Metropolitan area of Guadalajara and interdisciplinary university centers established in different regions of the State of Jalisco; In addition, it is made up of a High School Education System and a Virtual University System that offers higher education with a distance learning modality.

Our House of Studies trains high-level human resources in different scientific disciplines and for the quality of its educational programs it has the recognition of national and international organizations. Likewise, the University has implemented institutional policies focused on promoting innovation and entrepreneurship among its university community.

Through its departments, centers and research institutes, the University generates knowledge that, in addition to updating academic content and promoting technology transfer, contributes to the economic development and social well-being of the regions of Jalisco.

Also, through its programs of creation, appreciation and dissemination of art and culture, the University actively participates in cultural life and increases the artistic wealth of western Mexico.

In terms of internationalization, the University maintains cooperation and links with higher education institutions on five continents.

Currently, the University of Guadalajara is an institution committed to academic excellence, social solidarity and humanistic thought, aspects that contribute to the sustainable growth of Jalisco and Mexico, and that are developed and sustained through the following substantive purposes: Teaching and academic innovation, Research and technology and knowledge transfer, Extension and Social Responsibility, as well as Dissemination of culture.
