The University of Guadalajara is an institution committed to the Jalisco and Mexican diaspora settled in U.S. territory by bringing its educational services, as well as its academic and cultural offerings closer.
This noble undertaking has been made possible through the formation of the University of Guadalajara Foundation USA, a non-profit organization that meets the educational needs of the population of Mexican origin to help them achieve comprehensive development and improve the quality of life of the communities where they reside.
Faced with the circumstances of a constantly changing world in which it is necessary to respond precisely to the educational needs of the Mexican diaspora, it was that the University of Guadalajara, through the University of Guadalajara Foundation USA, joined the initiative to erect the Consortium of Higher Education Institutions for the Educational Development of Mexicans Abroad (CIESDEMEX).
CIESDEMEX is the result of the initial synergy of 38 universities in Mexico, brought together under the auspices of the Institute of Mexicans Abroad (IME) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) and the Sub- Ministry of Higher Education of the Ministry of Public Education (SEP); in order to respond to the requirements of our compatriots to integrate into the educational system in their countries of residence, to reintegrate into the Mexican educational system in case of return, as well as to favor the cultural enrichment and social development of Mexicans abroad, thus creating a tool for educational and equity policy that contributes to the exercise of the human right to education.
Through the implementation of the programs developed by CIESDEMEX, it is possible to establish spaces for inter-institutional dialogue to review educational regulatory frameworks that can be improved, facilitate access to educational services, foster links between Mexican researchers living or working abroad, and promote higher education focused on Mexican migrants or Mexican citizens abroad.
Given this comprehensive vision of education, the University of Guadalajara joins this collaborative effort and assumes a strategic and active role within the consortium by being part of the executive committee and the technical secretariat.
