Pyrrha Gadys Grodman Educational Trust
The University of Guadalajara is distinguished by its high moral standing and as a recognition of its work with the youth in Jalisco, it was entrusted to it by the Pyrrha Gladys Grodman, Educational Trust, an economic fund administered by the UDG Foundation USA, whose mission is to promote the formation of talent in Jalisco, strengthen national identity and promote Mexican culture and traditions.
The trust was created with the donation made by Dr. Pyrrha Gladys Grodman, an altruistic woman convinced that art and education positively transform life and generate benefits in personal, professional and communal development.
Gladys Grodman grew up in an orphanage in New Orleans and since education forged her dreams as a medical examiner, painter and poet. Her mastery of several languages and her sensitivity to community work led her to get involved with minorities, including that of Mexicans who worked in the fields of California.
In search of a better climate that will help him maintain health, Gladys Grodman settled temporarily in Guadalajara, where he had an approach with the art and culture of Jalisco and fell in love with his originality by perceiving the local artistic potential and sponsoring some talents to finish their university education.
In her will she established that her legacy be donated to an institution in Jalisco that, due to its academic strength and social commitment, can guarantee that the resources are used to promote art and education, as well as promote Jaliscan culture internationally. It is a great distinction and responsibility that fell to the University of Guadalajara.
